Rentable Electric Scooters and Bikes Cont .
To use one , simply download the Veo app and set up an account . Once your account is set up , the app will walk you through the steps needed to start your ride . Rides are limited to the Micromobility Operational Area , which is roughly bound by Division Street to the North , Collins Street to the east , Park Row Drive to the south and Fielder Road to the west .
Riders will be subject to the City of Arlington ’ s Micromobility Ordinance as well as the terms and conditions required by Veo to ensure the safety of all roadway users . Veo has signed a one-year license agreement with the City of Arlington to operate on public rights-ofway . During the one-year pilot , the City will assess the program to determine if it should be renewed in coordination with UTA . City staff will monitor and track the program to ensure compliance with the Micromobility Ordinance and the terms of the license agreement while UTA will oversee the overall deployment . The Downtown Arlington Management Corporation will help coordinate parking in the Downtown area and work with local businesses who are interested in allowing scooter and bike parking .
Food Delivery By Autonomous Robots A Success
From September 9 - 13th , nearly 150 homes in east Arlington and near The University of Texas at Arlington received at-home grocery deliveries with the help of small electric ground and air robots .
The deliveries , which were boxes of nonperishable pantry items donated by the Tarrant Area Food Bank , were delivered to participating households as part of the City of Arlington ’ s innovative Multimodal Delivery pilot program . This research , designed to test the efficiency and scalability of using autonomous , electric delivery vehicles to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while serving residents in need , is funded with the help of a $ 780,182 U . S . Department of Energy grant .
The City is partnering with Tarrant Area Food Bank , the University of Texas at Arlington , the North Central Texas Council of Governments , Dallas-Fort Worth Clean Cities Coalition , Airspace Link , Aerialoop , and Clevon . The goal of this two-year study is to test and evaluate the use of no-emission or low-emission uncrewed aircraft and four-wheeled robots that are smaller than cars to deliver essential food items .
A second delivery demonstration to another 150 households is planned in spring 2025 .
