When did you and Daisy meet?

Daisy and I met before the war and we were very serious, but then I got drafted and we lost touch so she thought that I had been killed in the war, and by the time she heard from me, it was too late. It was the day before her wedding when she got my letter and she went through with it anyway.

Are you mad at her for marrying anyway?

No, she got my letter the day before she was getting married and she couldn’t have stopped the marriage without tarnishing her reputation. Plus, I didn’t have any money. Her husband has a lot of money and I couldn’t provide for her, so she went with the better choice for her future.

Why do you stare at her dock every night?

When I stare at the light at the end of the dock, I think about the old times that we shared. I think about what it would be like to reunite with her and how it would be if we were together and if she wasn’t married.

Have you seen her since you got back from the war and became wealthy?

Yes, I saw her at her cousin’s house. Things were different, but they were like things used to be very quickly. She does still love me, but she also loves her husband and is not ready to leave him.

Do you still love her even though she is not willing to leave her husband?

Yes I do. She might still be with her husband, and she might say that she loves him, but she is just lying for her own sake. She still loves me and she always will, even if she is still with her husband.
