We filled our drinks, picked our booth and sat down. After examining the table I looked around the restaurant there was a family with three little kids sitting in the corner laughing and chowing down on their food. There was a man wearing a military uniform browsing on his phone with a half-eaten burger. There was also a senior couple holding their coffee sitting in the corner chatting. The flow of customers were consistent not too crowded but enough for good business. A man and his son were leaving, but as the approached the door but before walking out, the man picked his son up and held him to a bell, the boy took two quick “clangs”’ on the bell and they continued out. One of us had the bright idea of each of us ringing the bell as we walked out. I guessed the other wanted to do it for the sake of ringing the bell but I legitimately was enjoying my experience so far.
It didn’t take too long for our food to get there, the same cashier-lady handed them out, smiled, and asked us if we needed anything else. We all said no, and thanked her, so she returned back the frontline. I used to not be picky on how my food was presented, until I had a very unfortunate visit to a different restaurant before, and now I have a basic standard. The burger was well wrapped and I thought I had a little more fries than I needed which made me happy. Although they needed a little more salt. The burger was delicious, I had been craving a good burger all day and this hit the spot. We had quickly finished our food, and threw away our trash. As each of us passed the door, we gave one good “clang” on the bell.
All in all, I’m really happy with my experience at A&W at waterloo; the retro ambience and friendly staff is much better than the food, but it will give you a positive experience, and I sure am returning there soon.
