Harriet Tubman, appalling or amazing?
Harriet Tubman is an African American humanitarian and women’s suffrage activist. Although some consider Harriet Tubman an appalling person for helping the runaway slaves, I think she is an amazing individual. I believe she is a hero because she gave slaves an opportunity for a new life, away from slavery and a harsh living. So far she is leading about 70 slaves to Canada and other northern states. She is now going to on her 13th mission to lead slaves north. On the other hand I could see how people would think that doing such a thing could be seen as appalling or deceiving. It could be deceiving because she is taking runaway slaves away from the plantations and lying about it. Many slave owners see it as appalling because they are slowly losing their work force and it is bad for profit. Along with moving slaves to the north, she is a women’s suffrage activist. She believes that women should have equal rights as men do. She also helped John Brown recruit people when they went on the raid in Harpers Ferry. Even though she is taking many great risks that mostly no women or man would take she still hasn’t been caught and hopefully she will not be caught anytime soon or at all. She should be an inspiration to every single person, because she is such a nice and amazing individual. I, myself, believe that she is doing an amazing thing and that she should never be penalized for her behavior. I feel like there are worse things and people that should the pupil of everyone’s attention, not Harriet Tubman.
