The inventions that were created in the 19th century has greatly affected the United States of America and played a major role in immigration. One of the inventions, well, not really an invention, but an “improved” way of producing steel hit it big when it came to the constructing buildings. Andrew Carnegie improved it with the idea that Henry Bessemer had and patented it. Why did Henry Bessemer not patent it first? Now, somebody took his idea and got the credit. That was not very smart of Bessemer not to patent it. Another invention was the light bulb. Normally we praise Thomas Edison for this invention, but really, Humphrey Davy invented the light bulb but it was too bright for living houses and the energy required to power it was tremendous that it only light a short amount of time before it went out. Truly, Humphrey Davy is the better than Thomas Edison because he invented the light bulb first. When Thomas Edison improved the light bulb, he only invented it a couple hours before somebody else came up with the same material that Thomas Edison used.
Another invention was the steam carriage, which was invented by Frank Cutis. Technically, he did not invent the steam carriage, he improved it by building one that lasted 84 hours with-out having problems, so that was a big accomplishment. He took the automobile industry the next step up. His Design went a recorded 17 mph. During this time, the highest mph a steam carriage went one time 20 mph. Also, during this time, the Morse code had been developed and was used by the government. The inventor that built this device was Samuel F.B. Morse. We would be oblivious to what is happening to other countries and the other part of our country without the invention of the Morse code. Other countries that were also trying to invent this device had attempted but failed.
Lastly, the invention of the telephone continues to make an impact. Today, we have touch screen phones that originated from the simple telephone. Alexander Graham was the inventor of the first telephone. Graham’s hearing was impaired and his mother was deaf so he wanted to find a way to let the deaf hear. Instead, he invented the telephone. He made this amazing device with a partner named Thomas Watson. In June 1875, Graham was working as hard as he could and then he had found a way to communicate through the telephone.
