The NBA is filled with great talent and these players come from all around the world. Some of the best players in the NBA right now have come straight from high school. This list includes Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Dwight Howard, and many others. Ths makes us wonder why athletes aren't allowed to come out of high school anymore. Why should athletes have to attend college for at least a year? Why should they have to wait to be in the NBA? One of the many advantages of going straight to the NBA out of high school is avoiding injuries. If a player is to go to college for a year to play basketball, they could possibly suffer a season ending injury, which would often prohibit them from playing in the NBA and being a successful player. A prime example of this is with Nerlens Noel who played college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats. Coming out of high school Nerlens Noel was a widely recruited high school prospect. If he had came straight out of high school and declared for the NBA draft he could have been a top three pick. Instead he attended college and suffered a season ending injury with a torn ACL.
