The future is about sustainable and energy-efficient processes . The status quo of present energy technologies is surrounded by critical technical and nontechnical challenges which can slow down the commercialisation process . Designing new and / or retrofitting the existing technology to be more energy-efficient is the need of today ’ s world . We work from fundamental to advanced analysis including application of computational simulations and artificial intelligent to help and solve the existing industrial energy intensive processes . Our recent progress is the design and development of a microwave processing system to process biomass / waste materials into value added products . We also focus on renewable products such as bio-char , bioenergy , bio-oil , biofuels and green chemicals .
Techno-economic performance of bioenergy and solar energy is of great importance to scale-up the technologies and study their feasibilities . We believe that a systematic and inclusive research work can provide a way forward to the development of large-scale commercial technologies which can benefit our society . Thus , both technical and entrepreneurial skills are needed to solve the challenges faced by the current energy market .

Dynamic Analyses for Flow Visualisation and Structural Health Monitoring

Ir Dr Mohd Zulhilmi Paiz Ismadi Lecturer BEng ( Hons ), PhD , PEng MIEM , CPEng IntPE MIEAust
Seeing is believing . Imaging techniques is one of the most fundamental areas in research . It is the enabling technology that allows researchers to uncover a behaviour in testing their hypotheses , especially in dynamic settings . Our research area focuses on the development of advanced signal processing tools as well as the correlation-based processing techniques in realizing an accurate 3-dimensional data for fluid flow and structural health monitoring for industrial applications . Our research
primarily derives from industrial demands , through numerical and experimental analyses , particularly in optimization , exploratory and diagnostic studies . These projects are funded by FRGS and industries . It is hoped that the studies will contribute to the advancement of high-impact industry globally .
