Zimbabwe and Southern Africa in Malaysia for the world Championship of Public Speaking on the 21st of August 2014. This is a milestone that I had an honour of being a part of as Area Governor because the last time a Zimbabwean (resident in Zimbabwe I must emphasize) represented district 74, was nearly 12 years ago. Wow! I also hear when you were president at Capital club; the club was awarded best Club in the region (Southern Africa), what is your secret to all this magic? Ellen, I can only say that was one of my most amazing accomplishments as a toastmaster. I was and am still proud of that achievement because we worked extremely hard to transform Capital Club in every single respect. Little did I realise that our efforts would result in such a dividend. Allow me to state that Marco Bescotti, then VPE, played a huge part in us attain this award. He was “my right hand man” so to speak and his passion and commitment towards excellence made us a great tag team. That does not mean however that the other club officers did not contribute towards achievement. They did, but you will always have someone / some who stands out from the rest. Allow me also to tell you a secret; whenever I set out to do something, anything, anywhere, I give my very best. Mediocrity and half heartedness don’t go well with me. That is my personal brand/trademark and I try by all means not to compromise it. I utilise my God given abilities. Finally what I can say to encourage other club Presidents is Lead by Example. That is the key. The rest will fall into place in good time. In your view how did Engineers Club fare in the past year? Engineers has come a long way Ellen (given that it was a club under rescue) and I am extremely proud that they became Presidents distinguished during my time. I guess your motto of PRECISION had a huge bearing in such phenomenal performance. I am sure William Bapire and his team will forever be proud of this achievement, which in my opinion is well deserved. You are a mother; wife; professional; church lady and a toastmaster, how do you juggle all these balls? You are not the first to ask me such a question. Since it would require a whole issue for me to do justice to this question, all I will say for now Ellen is it’s the amazing grace of God that enables me to juggle it all. Sometimes I look back and think, how did I do that? Besides the Bible, I am not focusing on a specific book right now. My mind has been scattered. The last book I read and which ministered to me immensely however is The Land Between: Finding God in difficult Transitions by Jeff Manion. What is your current favourite wo rd and why? My favourite word is simply IMMEASURABLY, which defined means limitless, cast, without bounds, impossibleto measure. This word is used in one of my favourite scriptures in the Bible, Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is work at work within us(NIV) I love what this word means to me personally because what God has done thus far, and continues to do is impossible to measure. Will you please share your favourite food and secondly pastime? My favourite food is fish, in fact seafood. My favourite pastime would have to be watching a movie based on a true story; that is if I am not adventuring somewhere as I love to travel.
