What ’ s Your Motivation ?

Matthew 20:28 ( NLT )
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many .
When we say yes to God , whether to be a good neighbor , to work in full-time ministry , or to volunteer at church , the motivation for our yes matters . God does not want our service because we think a particular job will not get done without us or because a specific group of people needs what only we can offer . We certainly should not say yes to God so that others will see and commend us for our obedience . As we seek God ’ s will and discern his call on our lives , our motivation should be our love for God and our desire to be where he wants us , doing what he wants us to do .
Oswald Chambers said , “ If our devotion is to the cause of humanity , we will be quickly defeated and brokenhearted , since we will often be confronted with a great deal of ingratitude from other people . But if we are motivated by our love for God , no amount of ingratitude will be able to hinder us from serving one another .” When you say yes to God , check your motivation , and then hang on for an amazing ride !
