Compelled by Christ ’ s Love

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 ( NIV )
For Christ ’ s love compels us … he died for all , that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him .
With all the technology , money , human resources , and strategies available to the church today , why are there 2.3 billion people who still have not heard about Jesus ?
• We are selfish . Most believers spend 20x more money annually on personal entertainment than they spend giving to reach others for Christ .
• Our personal comfort is of off-the-charts value to us . Reaching most of the remaining people and places that have not yet heard about Jesus is dangerous and inconvenient , so we run the other direction .
• Compromising , we bow our knees to the gods of this world . We accumulate possessions ; spend more time on social media than we do in prayer ; and make gods of sports , money , and houses . We adore what this world offers , leaving only leftover time and treasures for Christ .
If these assertions are true , where should we find hope ?
• In making our lives an eternal investment .
• In experiencing the power that comes when the Holy Spirit fully owns us .
• In humbly caring more about the needs of others than those of ourselves .
Most importantly , hope is rooted in the agape love of Christ , which compels us . Hope is available in Christ himself !
