Art: Saumya Pandya Thakkar and Shakuntala Pandya

over some of the city's crosswalks. Two artists drew the crosswalks. ‘A lot of school kids
were crossing the road, and it was not safe for them because of the high-speed cars on the
highway,’ one artist said.

So, the artists repainted the zebra-striped crossing marks. Now, instead of seeing the familiar flat
stripes, drivers see what they think is a pothole in the road. A small bridge stretches over the hole.
As drivers approach it, they slow down. Then they see that the crossing is an optical illusion.
