Eagle Edition Enfield High School/ Enrico Fermi High School Community Newsletter January, 2016 Quarter 2 Fresh Faces at Fermi… “Greetings Falcons! I recently joined From Our Guidance Department... Mrs. Joy DiMaggio, K-12 Guidance Coordinator, is excited to be working with a talented and experienced group of School Counselors. They are a committed group of professionals that are dedicated to providing academic, personal and career counseling for all students. They welcome the opportunity to work collaboratively with students and parents to achieve post -secondary goals. This year, Counselor, Mr. Frank Genovese, joined Enfield High School from Fermi, and Ms. Mary Harrington transferred to E. H..S. from J.F.K. Middle School. Students received information on appropriate study strategies and techniques for completing their assignments. Parents are encouraged to sign into their child’s Naviance account to review the survey results and strategies. All 10th graders are expected to complete a personality inventory titled Do What You Are with their counselors. Students will receive a list of potential career choices to review as a result. Students at EHS will complete this task in February; FHS students completed this in January. The results can be reviewed in Naviance, as well. 11th grade students will be invited to participate in our Annual Rotary Shadowing Program in February. Students will research a career interest as part of the application process. Applications are due February 12 for the shadowing in April. New for 11th graders this year, is the March 2nd , state required, SAT test (in school at no charge). More detailed information regarding this test will be forthcoming. Seniors are busy processing college and vocational school applications with their counselors; any Seniors still needing help finalizing their post-secondary plans, should contact their counselors. Students are encouraged to visit our high school career centers to research colleges, careers, vocational schools ܈[\
