Although the need for skilled healthcare professionals with expertise in electrocardiography and cardiac monitoring has never been greater, the availability of such staff has never been smaller. The reasons for the lack of expert clinicians include the following: First, lack of ECG lectures during formal nursing training. Second, the critical lack of nurses means that nurses with little or no clinical experience are working in hospital emergency units or departments with ECG monitoring. Methods. This data was conducted using an evaluation sheet during a one-day ECG course in 4 major Croatian cities: Zagreb, Rijeka, Zadar and Osijek. Data was collected among nurses from different work sites. The knowledge test consisted of ten different ECGs. The score of the ECG test was correlated before and after the ECG course using Anova test. The correlation between workplace, years of experience and nursing qualifications was tested with Mann- Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis test using Medcalc software. Results. A total of 320 nurses attended the ECG course, out of which 275 (85,9%) nurses completed the evaluation sheet. On avarage, nurses had 53,4% correct answers in initial testing before ECG course and 83,5% correct answers after the ECG course (p value Keywords: Nursing education, ECG interpretation, ECG education.
