Objective: The aim of this correlational study is to examine the mediation of autonomy in the effect of organizational innovation climate and supervisor supportiveness on innovative behaviors of nurses. Methods: The sample of the study consisted of 332 nurses who were determined among nurses, working in two public university hospitals by using purposeful convenience sampling method. The data of the study were collected by using a Participant Information Form, Climate of Innovation Scale, Supervisor Supportiveness Scale, Dempster Practice Behavior Scale and Innovative Behavior Scale between February and May 2015. Results: It was determined that the linear regression model examining the mediation of the score of autonomy was statistically significant and the score of autonomy explained 31.9 % of the variance of the score of innovative behavior. In the model, it was observed that the effects of the scores of supervisor supportiveness and innovation climate were statistically insignificant, whereas the effect of score of autonomy was statistically significant. When the significance of the mediation was examined by using Sobel test; it was determined that the effect of the mediation was significant for the scores of both innovation climate and supervisor supportiveness. Conclusion: In this study, it was determined that innovation climate and supervisor supportiveness positively affected innovative behavior and autonomy had a full mediation in this relationship. This result attracts attention to the necessity for manager nurses, who desire to develop innovative behaviors of nurses, to support their autonomous behaviors.
