Jacqueline FILKINS Professor Independent Advisor EU (nursing education); West Woodside, Cumbria [email protected] Sabine TORGLER Englsih for Nurses Ltd. English for Nurses Ltd. Bristol GB [email protected] GB THE ROAD TO INTERPROFESSIONAL LEARNING AND WORKING: SHIFTING PARADIGMS The interactive presentation will focus on the developments that relate to the ever expanding and changing boundaries in education and clinical working. The challenges of moving from a multi- professional working model towards inter- professional working, as well as learning, will be explored. For this to be successful in today's healthcare, both for patients and students, the understanding of the different facets of one's own profession and organisation must be understood (1). The road towards achieving this understanding will be demonstrated with an integrated presentation from the two authors by combining theory with practice examples (2). Audience participation is welcomed. The differences between the two concepts will be highlighted and the benefits for the patient as well as the present and future workforce, will be explored. It is recognised that such developments require ongoing evaluation as the ultimate beneficiaries must be the patient.
