ETHICAL ASPECTS OF DECISION-MAKING IN
HEALTH CARE
Health care managers almost every day have to solve different management
problems that in most cases are related to professional ethics. Solving problems in
compliance with ethical norms and rules contributes to strengthening the
authority of health managers. The purpose of this study is to identify the ethical
aspects of management decision making by health care managers. A survey of two
groups of respondents - 82 nurses and 36 health care managers / chief and senior
nurses / was conducted. The results show that most health care managers deal
with solving management problems, but have difficulty in solving problematic
situations where ethical aspects influence. Healthcare professionals have a desire
to be involved in training that offers consideration of specific ethical case studies
in the professional sphere. It is necessary to develop ethics in the field of health
care management in order to increase the competence of the managers in this
field.
