David Rain is a miracle child. He was born at 25 weeks gestational period and weighed 1lb 13oz. He spent his first 3 months in the N.I.C.U. in Amarillo, Tx.
His mother (Carmen Abeyta) and father (David Lee Rodriquez), both musicians, introduced David Rain to a very wide array of music from an early age.
At the age of 2, David Rain would pick up his daddy's bass and play along with a video of his favorite band, Los Lonely Boys. As his interest in music grew, his parents bought him a small drum set where he acquired his love for the drums.
He was also an ambassador for The Children's Miracle Network in Amarillo. At the age of 4 he performed live on a Radio-thon for CMN and sang "Pride and Joy" by Stevie Ray Vaughn.
His love for music continued to grow and he got older. He played the trumpet in 5th grade at Nina Otero Community School in Santa Fe. He chose to play trumpet so that he could follow in his grandfather EP Rodriquez's footsteps. He now plays percussion for his 6th grade band.
His first professional performance in New Mexico was at the 2016 NM State Fair playing percussion with NM Award Winning artist GONZALO and has performed with Gonzalo a second time since. He tells his daddy that he now has the "itch" and wants to someday be a professional musician and carry the family tradition of playing music!
David Rain comes from a very extensive line of professional musicians. His father David Lee Rodriquez is a recording artist and also plays bass and has played with NM top artists including Gonzalo, Ernestine Romero, Al Hurricane Jr, Roberto Griego, Eddie Garcia, AJ Martinez, Sean Healen, and actor Gary Farmer. David Lee has also backed up Country Legend Michael Martin Murphey and Nashville Studio Session player Gary McGuire (along side Sammy Kershaw and JoDee Messina) and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Brian Hardgroove. David Lee recorded under the ZAZ and Hacienda Records labels with his Tejano band ALGO SIMPLE.
His mother Carmen Abeyta was the lead vocalist for Tejano band ALGO SIMPLE.
