FROM THE EDITOR

As I put together the articles I think about how the artists ’ work relates to and abuts - or in some cases - opposes the other work in the issue . Thinking about this brought me to two more extensive ( and debatable ) questions or conventions about the role of artists in society and whether art is reflective of , or is a sort of encapsulation of , the time we live .
The intersection of this group of artists is found here . To paraphrase what Joseph Conrad wrote , the artist aims to capture momentary , fleeting , personal impressions and transform them from something ephemeral into something static and even monumental . Of course , each of the artists in this issue has their specific concerns with differing vantage or approach points , separate from either of these conventions , but seeing them as a whole in this issue , to me , they each capture , map out or locate themselves in this particular time and place .
I hope you , too , will enjoy exploring , and that you will find their work and journeys inspiring .
Thanks for reading !
