In 2012, the average growth of mineral fertilizer prices was nearly 9% (with potash salt rising the most - by nearly 14%, while ammonium phosphate by a mere 10%). At that time, the prices of nitrogen fertilizers rose by 8% on average, while that of superphosphates - by nearly 7%. ? The Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics (IERiGZ) expects fertilizer prices to increase slightly in the global market on the back of rising prices of agricultural commodities (but in 2012, global mineral fertilizer prices dropped by over 12%). ? The sector’s net profit margins shows that it was affected by the 2009-2010 crisis, but has done quite well in the current economic slowdown – the figures are as follows: +7.9% in 2008, -9.6% in 2009, +2.2% in 2010, +11.9% in 2011 and +11.5% in H1/2012.
