So , what ’ s been happening in Athens ? The spring sports schedule is wrapping up and the men and women of UGA have made us proud .
In swimming and diving , the women ’ s team were 4th at the NCAA Championships while the men were 8th . For the ladies , that makes the 9th straight top 5 finish and in that stretch they have won 3 national titles .
In golf , the men are currently 10th and were getting ready for the SEC Championships at the end of April with the NCAA
Championship to follow in mid-May . The ladies , too , are pointing to an SEC Championship , after which they will be hosting an NCAA regional in Athens from May 8th through May 10th . Take the time and go out and support our Lady Golfers .
In softball , the # 19 ranked ladies are in the middle of their season and playing well . Yes , they are better than the guys .
The Gym Dogs made it to the NCAA semi-finals and were eliminated in that round .

It ’ s not your fault . You find yourself attacked daily by the best marketing team in the world , guaranteeing you accurate , longer distance and lower scores . What ’ s a person to do ?
That ’ s right . We all want the newest and greatest equipment . Unlike me , some of my friends are waiting for the doors to open . They want to take advantage of the newest and greatest , never having to consider the financial burden it may bring to him or her family . No names mentioned , but you know the type .
Technology and our continued dependence on it consumes our everyday life . It ’ s crazy how dependent we become . I mentioned in my last article about going to the Masters this year . The first thing you learn is there are no cell phones allowed . It felt weird going all day not checking missed calls , texts , emails , or even checking the time of day .
We had no idea what time it was . How cool is that ?
It ’ s almost as cool as the $ 1.50 pimento cheese sandwiches . They really know how to run a golf tournament .

The Ladies Equestrian team is back from Waco , TX with a 2nd Place finish at the NCAA ’ s . The ladies lost to Texas A & M in the finals .
In tennis , the men won another SEC Championship . It ’ s their 31st and the 5th straight regular season title , They will be looking to add SEC and NCAA Tournament titles to their 2017 resume . The # 2 ranked ladies are looking ahead to the SEC and NCAA tourneys .
By the way , it ’ s with surety that the football team did some things this month , also . There will be more on that next month .

Technological changes and advancements will continue way after we are long gone , but some things are harder to change than others . Take the rules of golf , for example . There are currently 34 rules in “ The Rules of Golf ”. The proposal calls for an easierto-understand book of 24 .
If you ’ re wondering what became of the 550-page decisions on the rules of golf , it ’ s known as The Handbook . Before any rule is changed you ’ ll have several months to write emails or call the USGA

One other new rule stood out to me . All holes created by animals will be treated as abnormal course conditions . Currently , free relief is given only from a burrowing animal hole . Every one of God ’ s creatures has the summer to object !

This passage from Jeremiah reveals to us the key concept of trusting in the Lord . Nature is often used as an example in the Bible because it is relatable and understandable . The tree stands strong in spite of any turbulence . The tree grows strong by deepening its strength through the power of its roots .

We , too , can stand strong deepening our strength through the power of knowing God is always with us . We will not be anxious if we trust in the Lord . We can make decisions and let go of outcomes knowing God is bringing forth our highest good .
Like the tree , we can be flexible with changes in our lives . May

can be the month of change . The end of the school year can bring graduations , new schools , and summers full of the unknown . Yet , it can be a time we look forward to and embrace . The same is true about anything in our lives when we turn within and trust in the Lord .
