How about them Dawgs !!! Hard to believe as you read this , it is March , and our Spring Sports will be well underway . But , before I go there , I just need to drop back a little and talk about football one more time .
Can you believe that recruiting class we signed ? Number # 1 class in the country . It is ranked as the # 2 class of all time . We

signed twice as many 5 star recruits as the rest of the SEC combined . Yes , twice as many as everybody else . A couple of other fun stats . We signed more 4 & 5 Star recruits in the last two years ( 42 ) than FL and TN combined ( 36 ). How ‘ bout this . We signed more 4 & 5 star recruits in the last two years ( 42 ), and FL ( 37 ) or TN ( 39 ) had in the last four years …. That Blind Hog might be living in a swamp .
497 UGA Student- Athletes were named as Honor Roll students . 42 football players made a 3.0 or better during the fall semester . Not only are they winners , but they are also smart too .
This spring if you have a chance ; make a trip to Athens . Catch a baseball or softball game or how about a tennis match featuring

either of our nationally ranked teams . A day on the links following our golfers is truly a walk in a park .
I will leave you with this . If you have not seen the video of Mohamed Massaquoi talking about his ATV accident and losing part of his left hand , I urge you to ‘ Goggle It ’ and watch . It is a powerful message from one of our all-time best receivers .

It ’ s taken m e five times to write this article . It ’ s really hard to talk trash when your team just stinks ! So … we ’ ll try to have a little fun trashing the Jackets in this article .

The Jackets had a nice little run at the beginning of the conference season . They went 4 and 1 against the little sisters . Then they had to play |
the big boys . Ouch . What an awakening ! |
So – Coach Pastner , are you really coaching your guys to pass the ball to the guys in the other shirts ? Turnovers are killing us ! Lammers looks like he wants to get rid of the ball instead of passing it to one of his guys . And what happened to the bounce pass from the big guys to the little ones ? Have you never seen Bill Walton pass to his guards ?
And what is that “ jump hook ” close to the basket ? It looks like Lammers is throwing up a bucket of bricks up there and hoping one of them will fall through the hoop . Look , I ’ m one of Ben ’ s biggest fans , but that shot needs to be retired along with the double dribble .
Yeah , you have eight freshmen . That could be an

excuse , but Calipari doesn ’ t seem to have much trouble turning his team over every year . Maybe you need to go to one of his coaching combines to see how he does it .
It really does pain me to have to write this , but the Jacket ’ s faithful fans are sick and tired of watching a team play that is just unwatchable . I do turn on every game . After 10 minutes it just becomes too ugly to watch . I turn it off and hope for better from the next game . I ’ ll continue to have the faith , because of the success Coach P has had at other stops , but please put a product on the floor we can enjoy watching .
More sports are starting up . Maybe we can have some fun watching them , instead of turning the TV off before halftime .

IRISH BRED PUB , COVINGTON GA
Top of the morning to you ! While browsing the town of Covington might not lead you to find any leprechauns , it doesn ’ t mean you can ’ t find a pot of gold . That pot of gold is what ’ s cooking up at Irish Bred Pub . Irish Bred Pub is a franchise based out of the West side of Georgia and two cities in Alabama . Owners Jack and Lisa Phillips remodeled the former Church Street Antiquities building in 2016 . You ’ ll find them on the Square next door to The Cork .
Irish Bred Pub takes the diner beyond Shepherd ’ s pie . Though you will find your typical Irish pub fare on the menu , from Bangers and Mash to Fish and Chips , Irish Bred undoubtedly takes it up a notch . We started the meal out naturally with a few appetizers . On this visit , our table ordered fried pickles , mozzarella sticks and for something unique the goat cheese bake . Both fried items were cooked to perfection . The goat cheese bake was enjoyable .
Nine times out ten , when I go to a restaurant , I will ask the server to surprise me . This is a food adventure I recommend you try at least once in your life . If you aren ’ t a picky eater , this will thrill you and rarely disappoint . If you are picky , take the chance and live life on the edge a bit . On this occasion , our server did not disappoint and showed up with the Seared Ahi Tuna . Ahi Tuna in an Irish Pub ? You may ask . Oh yes , Ahi Tuna . This entrée offers a generous portion of Ahi Tuna grilled to an absolute perfect medium rare . Then it is topped with a charred corn and tomato relish and cilantro citrus aioli ( sauce for the culinary uneducated ) all on top of a bed of steamed rice . The tuna was well seasoned and was so flaky and tender . The combination of flavors , as Ferris Bueller would say , “ It is so choice .” If you stop by I would highly recommend ordering the Ahi Tuna . Other items ordered by our party were the IBP Blarney Burger ordered by my Fooding Fuchs partner in crime , the Shrimp and Grits and the Fish and Chips which all seemed to be enjoyed equally .
The atmosphere is nice and lively on weekends with 2 full bars featuring 16 beers on tap with 7 Irish and 7 local brews as well as a decent bottle selection .
On the weekends head up to the listening room for some great live music and sit out on their patio and enjoy the fresh spring weather while enjoying the quaint downtown views . Service was prompt and friendly as well .
Overall all the experience , food and service were excellent , and we are ready to go back to try more . Give Irish Bred Pub in Covington a shot and get your Irish on for St . Patrick ’ s . May the Luck of the Irish be with you !

March Madness is here . Spring and the Masters right around the corner along with St . Patrick Day . Combined with the 9th Annual World ’ s Shortest Endurance Run . This race is . 1 Mile . Sponsored by your local Rotary Club of Rockdale County held at 4:00 pm directly after the Parade in Downtown Conyers . This is a BLAST ... It ’ s a fun family event where Kids and adults alike get to participate .
This is also the time of year golfers get the itch . Although there are fantastic golf courses right in our area , it ’ s nice to plan a little getaway that ’ s not too far away . Hilton Head is less than 5 hours away . Here are a few courses to consider .
Palmetto Dunes – Robert Trent Jones . Named for its legendary designer , the Jones Course was the first in Palmetto Dunes and remains one of Hilton Head Island ’ s most popular courses . The course is quintessential Jones , with sweeping fairways , large greens , and ample bunkering .
The Sea Pines Resort – Heron Point . Designed by legendary course architect Pete Dye . Heron Point is nothing short of a modern masterpiece . Golfers will discover all the challenge they desire with its welldefined holes , plenty of movement in the fairways and Dye ’ s ubiquitous mounding and swales framing target areas .
The Sea Pines Resort – Harbour Town Golf Links . Known for the famous Light House , The Sea Pines Resort places a premium on finesse , imagination , and shot-making rather than strength . It ’ s a premium on your wallet too , depending on which Golf Package you choose . The last time I checked , Green fees and cart were $ 350.00 - $ 400.00 per round . Although I think this would make a great St . Patrick day gift , if you may have forgotten to give your husband anything for Valentine ’ s Day . Just Saying .
Tip of the day : Develop a pre-stretch routine before you tee off . This could help prevent the dreaded slow start to your round . Ask your Local professional about which warm-up exercise he recommends .
