KIZKUMU: Kızkumu is in Orhaniye, Marmaris. Nature is awesome in Orhaniye. Pine trees and beaches are in everywhere. Orhaniye is popular by beaches and sea. In here people are walking on the sea. I know it ' s strange but it is true. Under the sea is full of sand. We call this place“ Kızkumu”. According to the legend, a girl who wants to reach her lover fills her skirt with sand and starts moving ahead in the sea. But she drowns when she ran out of sand. At the beginning point of the shallow water area, there ' s a sculpture of this girl.
TLOS: Tlos is the Lycian ancient city, where Pegasus the winged horse lives in. Pegasus myth is the best known landmark of Tlos. According to the legend, Bellerophone is a warrior who protects Tlos from enemies along with Pegasus. Over time, he starts to see himselfself superior to the gods in Olympus. The gods are very angry about it, they send a horse throat to Pegasus. Pegasus sees the horse throat, he scares and lets Bellerophon fall down. Then Bellerophon dies.
Well, the legend is actually a little longer; it’ s just a summary. If you go to Tlos, you can meet little children who tell the legend; I met them and they helped me a lot when I was taking photos.
Tlos is approximately 42 km east of Fethiye District and one of the oldest Lycian cities. There are rock tombs, and remains that belong to Ottoman, Roman, and Byzantine culture as well. There are many other ancient cities near Tlos like Xanthos, Telmessos, Araxa, Oinoanda. There is a promenade called Yakapark. In here there are cold water resources, you can drink them. You can take beautiful photos as well. I hope you come here in the future and even if you can’ t see them, at least can feel Pegasus and Bellerophon’ s existence.
