TURKEY I have written an article about the Turks and Turkey. We will examine the Turks in 6 parts. Last note it does not include everything about Turks. Part 1: The Turks in the world history
Ilber Ortayli( a famous us historian) says‘’ World history can’ t be written without Turks’ in his book named‘’ Turk’ s history”( in Turkish‘’ Türklerin Tarihi”). Because Turk’ s are everywhere in the history of the world. For example when we look at to the Chinese resources we will see the Turks.
Part 2: The Turkish literature
In Turkey there is too many authors and poets for example Sabahattin Ali and Oguz Atay. Sabahattin Ali is the author of‘’ Madonna In A Fur Coat’’. Oguz Atay is the author of‘’ The Disconnected’’ and‘’ Dangerous Games’’. The UNESCO says‘’ probably the most eminent novel of twentieth-century Turkish literature’’ about Oguz Atay’ s The Disconnected.
Part 3: Turkish Historians
So you decided to research about the Turkish history but you have no idea about where you should start. In my opinion if you want to research about the Turkish history first you have to read Turkish historians like Halil Inalcık, Ilber Ortaylı but it’ s not limited to only them. But you have to choose it carefully because some historians are not objective.
Part 4: Turkish Flag
I will tell a common theory about this. According to this theory the moon symbolizing Islam and the star symbolizing independence and the red colour symbolizing the blood of our martyrs. And there is a story about this flag someday in a war. There formed a blood Pond with the blood of Turkish martyrs and the moon and the star reflected to the blood pond. But it’ s just a story.
Part 5: Turkish Language
There is a misconception about our language. Turks don’ t speak Arabic. Turks have their own language and our alphabet is not Arabic. Turks are using the Latin alphabet.
Part 6: Traditional Turkish food
Many tourists or foreign persons love our food. We have many traditional foods like kebab, lokum etc.
I hope these could be helpful. Thanks for reading.( Written by Arda Özcan from 9 th class)
