Pravčická Gate – is a narrow rock formation located in the Bohemian Switzerland, near our town of Děčín.
With a span of 26.5 metres, an inside height of 16 metres, 8 metre maximum width and 3 metre arch, it is the largest natural sandstone arch in Europe. In 1826 an inn was built by the Pravčická brána.
Several landscape scenes in the film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe were filmed here.
Mácha’ s Lake, with the ruins of the Bezděz Castle.
It is an artificial lake in the Liberec region. Between 1366 and 1367 Charles IV ordered a large pond to be established here. Karel Hynek Mácha( 1810-1836), was a Czech Romantic poet. He wrote a lyrical epic poem May, also inspired by the lake. It is one of the best Czech poems ever written. The lake was named after him in 1961.
