The official language in Spain is Spanish, language that is spoken around the world by almost 500 million people( Latin America, Sahara Occidental, Guinea Continental and some areas in Philippines) so it is considered to be the second most spoken language as a mother tongue. It is said it will be the second international language in the future. But in Spain there are some co-official languages: Basque, Catalan, Valencian, Balearic and Galician. Spanish itself also has distinct dialects around the country; for example, the Andalusian or Canarian dialects, each of these with their own sub-varieties, some of them being partially closer to the Spanish of the Americas because of the migration.
Spain is a beautiful country characterized by three types of different climate. The Mediterranean climate which is dominant in the peninsula, the semiarid climate in the region of Murcia and the oceanic climate in the regions of Asturias, Cantabria and Galicia. Also, there are the alpine climate in the Pyrenees and Sierra Nevada, and a typical subtropical climate in the Canary Islands. In Spain, there are four main rivers: Miño in Galicia, Ebro, Duero in Castilla León and Tajo in Aragón, Castilla La Mancha, Madrid and Extremadura. Also, there are many mountain ranges among which the most important ones are the Cantabrian mountain range on the north, the Iberian mountain range on the east and the Sierra Morena on the south. The highest mountain in Spain is the Teide in Tenerife( Canary Islands) with 3.718 metres.
EL TEIDE El Teide is a volcano that is in Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands. It’ s the highest peak in the country and the third largest volcano on Earth after Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, both in Hawaii. It is a protected natural area in the category of Natural Monument and it is considered the most emblematic natural monument of the Canary Islands. Most of the animals that we can find here are invertebrates; we can also find mammals like the big eared bat. At least there are 70 species of animals in the National Park. We are lucky for having this amazing place in our islands!
SIERRA NEVADA
Now let ' s talk about one of the most important sky stations in Spain. Sierra Nevada is a mountainous place that is found in Granada. It is one of the highest mountains in Europe, there are also the highest peaks on the peninsula: Mulacén and Veleta. Sierra Nevada has become a sky station where you can do many different things like riding a chairlift, visiting the area with a tourist guide, skiing or renting sleds which is also great fun. Another activity you can also do is to make night sky under the stars or to drive a snowmobile. After a tiring day in Sierra Nevada you can enjoy relaxing in some spas and coffee shops to have something warm. This place is very nice to go on vacation with your family or with your friends and to spend some unforgettable days.
