INTERVIEW WITH Mrs. Lenka Holubcová, Czech and Music teacher, also the school choir leader.
‘Good Morning, we are from the eTwinning Club and we would like to make an interview with you for our
English magazine called ,,eMates” ‘.
How long have you been teaching at this school?
For over twenty years.
You teach Czech and Musical Education, if you had a chance to choose again, would you decide in a different way?
So, I would teach Musical Education for sure and I would think of Czech, but because it includes a lot of test correcting
maybe I would choose Physical Education.
You are in charge of the school choir, could you tell us something more in detail about it? How did you get to it?
So, our school’s choir has a great tradition, it was founded by professor Waldmann who had taught at this school before I
started working here. Then for a short period when my husband worked here too, he led the choir and then I took over the
choir after him. Now there are two choirs at the school and those are: the preparatory choir where students of lower
gymnasium from first to third year are and then the girls’ choir where students from the fourth year to graduation year are.
The choir is comprised of almost sixty students together.
On which level is our school’s choir in comparison to other choirs? Can the choir compete with international choirs? Did
the choir have any big success that you would like to mention?
I think it’s a choir on a very good level, which shows our last success at a singing contest of choirs in Spain, a very
prestigious one, where the choir won one gold and three silver awards. The choir has currently a lot of Christmas concerts
so we also perform concerts in Děčín these days. The choir has realized n exchange scholarship to Mexico two years ago.
What foreign languages do you speak?
Hahah, so Russian language for sure which I studied and I also learned German but I have forgotten a lot and otherwise I’m
not the kind of person who has a command of foreign languages.
What are your free time activities?
I have a lot of them. I set up my own ,,Musical School” where I teach playing the flutes, piano and guitars,
there are kids from half their second year, beside that I sing in Děčín’s choir and I’m currently member of Děčín’s culture
committee too.
OK, that’s all. Thank you very much for giving us an interview, goodbye.
Goodbye.
