INTERVIEW WITH Mr Václav Lešanovský, the headmaster of our school.
‘Good Morning. We are students from the e-Twinning Club and we would like to make an interview with you. Let’s begin.’
How long have you been teaching here and how long have you been the headmaster of the school?
I’ve been teaching here since 1971, with some breaks and I’ve been the headmaster since 1989.
When did you decide to become a teacher?
Well… it wasn´t a decision at all, I was interested in sports and was also studying physical education at the grammar school in Děčín, with some other subjects, like mathematics, biology or geography. I took maturita exam from geography too and when I finished my university studies I realised that I had become a teacher actually.
Alright. Now we know that you studied at our school.
Yes, I did.
You are the President of Association of School Sports Clubs of the Czech Republic. What does it involve?
Well, to simplify it, I take care of all sport at schools in Czech Republic. That means all the school tournaments organised by the association on the national level.
And your part in the town´s council?
I was elected for the third time, as a representative of the political party named Sportsmen. And we are in coalition with other parties.
How´s your English? Do you use it in practice?
I always try to improve my English. At school, I was studying French and obviously Russian language, however, I do not use French at all. For example, with our contacts from Nantes, we mostly use English. And also as an envoy of the association I talked about. On he international level, English is the only used language at our meetings, and that forced me to learn English.
What do you do in your free time?
Well… sport is definitely my priority number one, I often go cycling, play basketball or volleyball. And except for the sport, I do usual things, like reading, working in the garden, etc.
Amongst our partner countries are Spain, Italy, Portugal and Turkey, have you visited any of these countries?
Actually… I’ve been to Turkey three times, and in Italy probably even more times. However, I haven´t visited the other countries yet.
Do you have any nice experiences, memories from there?
When I was in Turkey, nearly 300km from Ankara, I saw beautiful land pyramids, and there were buildings built inside of those pyramids… and in Istanbul, the city´s size itself fascinated me, and actually… It surprised me that there are about 50 million people living in the region.
What do you think about e-twinning?
Naturally .. I think there is a need for existence of such projects where students from different parts of the world can communicate with each other, and I think it can only help you.
Alright.
We’d like to
thank you for your time
and wish you
a nice rest of the day.
Same to you.
