The penultimate Camden album “Burning Love And Hits From His Movies Vol. 2” has become a bit of a gripe to Elvis fans over the years. Even today it’s hard to believe this classic rocker wasn’t given a standalone release on RCA’s main label.
The final Camden album was “Separate Ways” from 1973. This was another million seller with an eye-catching cover; who else but the king could stand in the middle of the highway strumming his guitar and still not miss a note?!
No one can dispute the incredible success of these albums. Over 17 million copies would be sold - not bad for a budget series and let’s not forget they did provide the fans with many hard to find songs at the time. The concept would continue throughout the late 70’s and early 80’s with the
likes of Pickwick, Hallmark and K-tell releasing many compilation albums with further chart success.
RCA told us several years ago that Elvis has sold over a billion records, but do we know for sure these other labels were accounted for? Who knows? It just goes to prove whether it be the 78, 45, LP, CD or download, Elvis will forever be the greatest recording artist of all time.
