The sixth Camden LP C’mon Everybody” from August ’71 included songs from “Follow That Dream” and “Kid Galahad”. Unless you were lucky enough to own the original EPs from the early 60’s you’d be hearing these songs for the first time.
The sacred album “You’ll Never Walk Alone” hit the shelves in April 1971. As well as the title track, it featured “We Call On Him” and “Who Am I?” - some hard to find songs back then. This would be another big seller, shifting over 3 million units in its time.
The cover art for “I Got Lucky” has always been one of my favourites. Elvis looks cool in a live shot from 1970. All of the songs are from the movies with the exception of “Fools Fall In Love” from the Guitar Man sessions.
The next Camden LP “Elvis Sings Hits From His Movies Vol 1” was released at the same time as the ground-breaking “Madison Square Garden” album. Even with “Old McDonald” in between the grooves it still sold over a million copies.
