Buxs banter Last Wednesday we entertained Exmouth Town, but I felt the 4-0 scoreline did not fully reflect the game. Yes, Exmouth always looked the side most likely, but for an hour we gave them a good run for their money. And, but for a couple of dubious decisions which went against us, the outcome could have been different. Tom Kelly, running through onto a long ball, lobbed a beautiful ‘goal’ However, the young linesman decided he . was offside. The same linesman also gave another offside decision against James Blake, who also ran on to a long high ball. At the time the ball was played forward both my players were, in my opinion and in the view of other spectators in line with the action, onside. As it was when Exmouth got their second goal we ran out of steam. It came as no surprise as young Jake Welch was playing his third game in five days, while Luke Pinkney was not fully recovered from a midweek fall which resulted in a bruised hip. Troy Membury too was suffering with breathing problems throughout the game. He was unable to continue for the final 10 minutes and immediately went to hospital for a check-up afterwards. The game also emphasised what having a healthy budget can get you with Exmouth challenging for second spot in the league and promotion. I was also very pleased for another youngster, Matt Clenahan, making his home debut for us. He had a cracking debut for us at Elburton a few weeks back and I was very impressed with him again on Wednesday night. Unfortunately he and Jake Welch are unavailable for today’s game. With James Skinner (holiday) and Darrel Veale also absent, I have to make changes again...reinforcing the fact we have had no continuity in the team throughout the season. Enjoy BUXS 33
