1st lesson: Brainstorming: Why are Mediterranean countries a
paradise for tourists? (50’)
Using a visual stimula (pictures of Mediterranean landscapes), students
were asked to present an answer the question that embodies the theme of
the Unit.
The words used to justify the answer (e.g., sun, sea, warm weather,
fresh natural food, friendly people) were registered in the classroom
board.
By the end of the class, students were able to identify the countries that
share similarities and are known under the denomination Mediterranean
countries and pointed them out in a map.

2nd lesson: Research class (50’)
During this class, and following the example of the previous lesson,
students were asked to select pictures and informative texts that could be used
to illustrate the Mediterranean countries main features in terms of climate,
agriculture, lifestyle, culture (gastronomy, music, architecture…).
They worked in pairs and each pair chose one Mediterranean country
(Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal, among others).
For their research, students made use of books and multimedia materials
available.
A visit to the school library was an added value to the work.
