On June 22 at noon the sun was shining at the height of 78˚ degrees on the south side of the sky. I
was on the island then. It is the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean. The coastline has a
length of approx. 1040 km. The landscape of the island is made up of the rocky coast
intertwined with wide, bright beaches. The climate has features of moderate and subtropical.
The average annual rainfall is 640 mm. Summer is hot and dry, winter is colder. The rain in
the mountains happens more often than in the rest of the island, the peaks are often covered in
snow (from November to May). Vegetation is sparse, better only in the wetter areas. The
biggest tourist attractions include the ruins of the Minoan palaces. There are also interesting
caves including Dikte cave, there are many aquariums with fish of the sea living in the
Mediterranean Sea.

The second point during the journey was the island, which is 4 cm on the map with a scale from 1
to 14 000 000 west of Greece. It is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea (25 710 km²),
located south of the Italian peninsula, which separates it from the narrow Strait of Messina. It
is inhabited by about 5 million people. The highest elevation on the island is the mountain
(3323 m above sea level), which is called.......... (Etna) The island has a Mediterranean
climate with mild and wet winters and dry, hot summers. The coast is characterized by
temperatures comparable to those in North Africa, but in the winter months there is some
snow on the highest mount. The annual rainfall is 1200-1400 mm., while in the east of the
island rain does not exceed 400-600 mm. Heavy rains can be expected in late autumn and
early spring. It happens that the rain falls continuously for several days, but it might as well
clear up within a few minutes.
Gr. 3 The next stage of the journey was again an island. While in Rome 14˚ E the time was 12.00,
on the highest peak of the island it was only 11.40. It is a rocky island, the second largest on
the Mediterranean> The seashore of the island is mostly high and rocky, with long, relatively
straight stretches, many prominent headlands, some broad, deep bays, many straits and with
many smaller islands off the coast. The majority of the island is comprised of mountains and
plateaus. The vegetation is mainly maquis, evergreen shrubs. It has several major rivers.
Many large, shallow, saltwater lagoons and backwaters are located along the coast. The
dominant winds are north-westerly Mistral that blows mainly in winter and spring. It can
blow quite strongly, but is usually dry and mild.

The fourth island, which I visited was the island, where at night I watched the North Star at 50 ˚
then I found myself on 3˚ east longitude. It has a length of about 100 km and an area of 3640
square kilometers. It is inhabited by about 859 289 residents. The island is made up mainly of
limestone because along the north-western and south-eastern part of the island is carving
karst. In the central part of the island, where there is a fertile plain, grapes, olives,
strawberries, figs, citrus and vegetables are cultivated. In the mountains you can see sheep
