We were celebrating our accomplishment, as examples, showing
people that it’s possible to wait if
you really purpose in your heart to
do so.
There were so many who had a
problem with Brelyn and I, that was
the perplexing part. We decided
to show forth godly character, by
repositioning our minds to look
at it from a different perspective,
remembering that we are Christ
representers. We had to look at this
as an opportunity to the dialogue
started.”
“When we began to receive feedback, I could see how God connected us in purpose. Tim said to
me, “This is when you show people
your character. The persecution,
was unreal…the horrible things
said to us was unbelievable. However, we used the opportunity to
show that opinions are inevitable.
It’s in our ability to mutually respect one another, that’s where the
love of God is shown. We’re not
condemning individuals for what
they do, we’re simply sharing our
story, and the love of Christ.”

“Throughout the years, God kept me,” shared Brelyn
Bowman. She felt compelled to share with those that she
declared earlier to, she in fact walked the road chosen
10 years prior. “It was important to me, that people
know I kept my vow.” The couple dated three years
before marrying… theirs is definitely a story of success.
Amid the media frenzy, the couple sparked something
in the hearts of many, whether to reexamine themselves,
or their stance regarding purity, the seed was planted.
Throughout this journey, two things are very apparent, no
matter which view is taken. We must develop the necessary tools (a plan) within the church to deal with sexual
intimacy before it ever happens, that shares the benefits of
waiting. We understand the consequences for not doing
so, pregnancy, heartbreak, anger, depression, the list could
go on and on. Second, we must shed light on the fear factor, and bring exposure to this life choice. An old cliche’
shares, “Knowing is half the battle.”
“During this time it was important to me,” Tim shared,
“that we conveyed the love of God. It was never our
stance to make anyone feel ashamed, or condemned.
