to help you out . We spoke with digital marketing expert Katrina Hibbs of Living Online to get the lowdown . Here ’ s what she had to say .
DO IT YOURSELF 1 . Make sure you have a Google My Business listing . This is vital as it puts you on Google Maps and in local Google searches . It is actually pretty easy to set up so don ’ t be afraid to do it yourself . Get started : google . com / intl / en _ au / business /
2 . Get listed ! Start your SEO off with listing yourself in your major industry and local directories . Make sure they are legit directories that your target market actually use . There are a lot of dodgy ones out there that will actually work against you for SEO , so if in doubt – don ’ t join . Some of our faves for electricians are HiPages , YellowPages , ServiceSeeking and WoM .
3 . Social Media and Reviews : Make sure you sign up for company pages / accounts with Facebook , LinkedIn and Twitter . Even if you do not intend to be proactive with your socials , you will want an account to keep track of what others are saying about your business . If nothing else – make sure you are listening .
4 . Reviews : Ask every happy client for a review and provide them a link to leave one .
