EL ENFOQUE POR COMPETENCIAS EN LAS CIENCIAS BÁSICAS. CASOS Y EJEMPLOS EN EDUCACIÓN EN INGENIERÍA
RESUMEN · En muchas ocasiones se genera una duda entre los estudiantes de in-
geniería acerca de la importancia de estudiar Matemática. Por otra parte, las carreras
profesionales técnicas requieren que el egresado posea una formación integral. Un impor-
tante y repetido desafío constituye entonces salvar la desarticulación entre los cursos de
Matemática y los de las demás asignaturas. Para enfrentar esta realidad es fundamental
desarrollar en el educando competencias que puedan ser luego extrapoladas a situaciones
que se dan en un contexto ingenieril y/o científico.
En esta oportunidad exploramos algunas de las competencias como horizonte forma-
tivo a desarrollar en la asignatura Ingeniería Civil I. Es la primera materia integradora de
las pertenecientes al Tronco Integrador del diseño curricular de la Universidad Tecnológica
Nacional, entendiendo como Tronco Integrador la línea curricular desarrollada a lo largo
de toda la carrera a través de materias integradoras. En las mismas se plantean instan-
cias sintetizadoras con la finalidad de incluir el trabajo ingenieril partiendo de problemas
básicos de la profesión. Como Ingeniería Civil I pertenece al primer año de la carrera, es
fundamental su vinculación con las materias del área Matemática de ese nivel para lograr
su objetivo de constituirse realmente en integradora.

ABSTRACT · Many times, a doubt arises among engineering students about the impor-
tance of studying Mathematics. On the other side, technical degrees require the graduate
to have an integrated preparation. An important and repeated challenge is to mend the
disconnection between the Mathematics course and the rest of the subjects. To rise against
this reality, it is crucial for the student to develop certain skills that can be used in the en-
gineering and/or scientific areas.
In this instance, we explore some of the skills needed to be developed in the subject
of Civil Engineering I, the first integrated subject that belongs to the Integrated Curriculum
Core design of the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional. We understand the Integrated Cu-
rriculum Core to be the circular line developed by the integrated subjects throughout the
degree. In these subjects, instances are presented with the objective of including the engi-
neering work beginning from basic problems of the profession. Civil Engineering I belongs
to the first year of the degree; therefore, its linking with the Mathematics area at this level
is crucial to achieve the goal of becoming truly integrated.
