Speak Up
April is Sexual Assault Awareness
Month and Santa Ana College is taking part by hosting events that bring
the issue to light in unique ways.
Events will be held April 26 through
April 28, and include workshops defining sexual assault and Title IX,
the Clothesline Project, and a viewing and discussion of The Hunting
Ground documentary.
“We will teach students how they
can go about talking to an administrator if they were ever to experience sexual assault,” psychological
services intern Sandra Alfaro said.
The first SAAM took place April
2001, according to the National
Sexual Violence Resource Center.
Each year the NSVRC picks a different theme and slogan in order to
demonstrate the many ways sexual
assault can be prevented.
This year the theme is Prevention
is Possible.
