SANTA ANA COLLEGE el Don/eldonnews.org • MONDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2016 NEWS 3 CAMPUS D-Building After an 18-month makeover, Dunlap Hall is back in business. Building upgrades include new steel guardrails, upgraded elevators that do not require key cards and a staircase entry closer to the parking lot south of the building. The projected cost of the upgrades was about $17.22 million, but a final total for the project has not been determined because some contracts are still being finalized, Vice President of Administrative Services Michael Collins said. “It was so nice to be back in our dedicated lab for physical anthropology. It was like coming back home after being away for a year,” anthropology professor Mario Robertson said. The updated classrooms now include instructional computers, projectors, speakers, and energy efficient LED lighting, Collins said. An area west of the D-Building that is now fenced off will become an amphitheater that can be used as an outdoor learning environment and gathering space for students, faculty and staff. / JOHN OLIVARES BREAKOUT / The three inmates escaped using cutting tools obtained from gang affiliates and makeshift ropes made from bed sheets (top right).
