The Italian language comedy/drama was released in 1988 and won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film in 1990. The film portrays 30 years of Salvatore Di Vita’s life after WWII in a Sicilian village, and how as child he frequented the Cinema Paradiso, where he befriended projectionist Alfredo and spent time with his forbidden love, Elena. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. at 304 E. 4th St. Parents with disabled or special-needs children can bring their kids to an event hosted by a nonprofit foundation where free toys will be handed out. The Autistic Kids Foundation, who partnered with the U.S. Army to give out about 1,000 toys, is hosting the event. “We really want to focus on the kids,” said President and CEO of the Autistic Kids Foundation Lazaro Gomez. “In the future we look to make it an even bigger event.” The event is Dec. 19 in the New Covenant Church of Orange County’s parking lot on Bristol and Fifth streets at 2 p.m. —Joanna Meza University of California extended its transfer application deadline to Jan. 4. The extended deadline is exclusive to transfer students who are applying for Fall 2016. “I hope you don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to apply to UC and encourage you to act quickly,” wrote Chancellor Brice W. Nicanor Santana Students of the Rancho Santiago Community College District now have school email addresses that provide them free access to Microsoft Cloud 365 Products. The new service for students was requested by RSCCD’s Technology Advisory Group and created by the Informational Services department. It is one of many technological upgrades requested by the TAG group to both the Santa Ana College and Santiago Canyon College campuses this year. New student email accounts can be linked with RSCCD Webadvisor and Blackboard login information through a website created by TAG.
