SANTA ANA COLLEGE el Don/eldonnews.org • MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2015 NEWS 3 CAMPUS E-Funds For the first time since financial aid has been awarded at Santa Ana College, students now have the option of either receiving their disbursement awards by direct deposit, through a debit card or by traditional paper checks. “Being able to disburse funds electronically will allow Santa Ana College to distribute financial aid funds to students more quickly and more securely,” Associate Dean of Financial Aid Robert Manson said. The new system takes effect in Spring 2016. SAC will begin notifying students who are currently receiving aid via email by the end of November, Manson said. An information page will be posted online as well. The move comes in an effort to help students who don’t have a bank account to receive funds without having to pay check-cashing fees. “Using electronic disbursements has been encouraged by state and federal governments for the past few years in an effort to speed up student financial aid disbursements,” Manson said. / JORGE CAMPOS LAW / Scott Dekraai is flanked by his public defenders during arraignment at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.
