“ Us seniors have little to no choice on which educational institution we attend , and suddenly we are expected to make the toughest decision of our lives ”
It ’ s late December , application due dates are approaching , every conversation you have revolves around your college decisions . Whatever you do now , will change your life forever . For the last fifteen years , us seniors have little to no choice on which educational institution we attend , and suddenly we are expected to make the toughest decision of our lives .
We are suddenly bombarded with an endless array of obligations that we must face : SAT ’ s , ACT ’ s , SAT Subject Tests , College Board , Naviance , Common App , supplements , Early Action , CSS profile ...
At age 18 , we are told that we have to make a life-changing decision that will impact us for the rest of our lives . In some way , this is true , but isn ’ t it true for every course of action we take ? The Washington Post stated that “ only 27 % of college grads have a job related to their major .” So why even study , you may be wondering . If not for the simple act of seeking knowledge , colleges develop one ’ s creative and analytical thought process .
Students can get caught up in where to apply and on university rankings . As Ms . Aguilar always says , “ The good hen sings in any chicken coop .” There is no need to be in the most prestigious institution if the student maximizes their academic learning and external opportunities to achieve their highest aspirations .
The current college application system does not reflect the true importance of the decision . The scene is set up to make you believe that what you do now will affect you forever , but remember that you ’ re not going to master the rest of our life in one day . Just relax . Master the day . And just keep doing that every single day .

Decisions , decisions ... What to expect for 2018
“ We have the right to insist and demand for a better Mexico , but we ourselves must be true to these principles as well ”
Many Seniors and Juniors , are utterly confused on who we should vote for . It is because of this that I decided to only focus on the primary nominees . We will look in depth at their campaigns and proposals , which are intricate and vague to say the least ...
Margarita Zavala left the PAN to seek an independent candidature . As a calm and poised woman , but also very “ political ” one , the ex-First Lady wishes to change the merciless corruption that exists in our country . Her promises are , well , promising . She addresses our decaying economy , our safety issues , our poverty problems , and hopefully she will deliver .
Ricardo Anaya is probably the smartest but cockiest candidate of them all . Anaya is a Calderón 2.0 , does not approve of same-sex marriage , believes in the power of education , and will continue the drug war started back in 2007 .
On the other side we see José Antonio Meade . Lawyer , economist , businessman , and the most qualified of all . The only problem ? He will probably be running for the PRI and therefore abolishes all possibilities from getting my vote . For Jaime “ El Bronco ” Rodríguez I have no words ; he shouldn ’ t be running for president after his lousy work in Nuevo Leon .
Finally Andrés Manuel López Obrador . Will the third time be the charm ? Doubts fill Mexicans , especially the high-class , about Mexico becoming the next Venezuela if AMLO becomes president . Although he is a self-proclaimed nationalist who favors leftist ideals , it is highly unlikely we will ever come close to the brink of collapse .
We can all agree that what lies ahead of us is , well , daunting . Yes , we have the right to insist and demand for a better Mexico but we ourselves must be true to these principles as well . Underage drinking , copying homework , bribing police officers , having fake id ’ s , all examples of illegal and corrupt acts : our acts . So if we have succumbed into these vicious habits , what can we expect of our politicians ?
