And He Will Cause

the Rain

handle the very thing designed to give it life; wake it up. Our spiritual lives can be like that.

As we transition from one season to the next there are times when the spiritual “rain” of events seems to come in a deluge. What we see is stuff coming at us from all directions. It seems as though the sun is never going to shine on our circumstances again.

But in actuality, this season in our life is actually helping to wake up the spiritual roots that may have grown dormant from the past season. The stronger our roots are, the easier it will be for us to not get all dried out and blown away or even washed away in times of flood.

We may sway, but we will stand “rooted and grounded.” We may get a little beat up, but sometimes this helps to shape us and make us more secure in our relationship with the Lord.

I have no doubt that in two or three months as we make the transition from spring to summer or summer to autumn the weather sentiments will turn to cries of, “it’s too hot; it’s too dry”, and when is it going to rain

In all honesty, I must confess there have been times when I have expressed those sentiments, but I have learned that these are seasons the Lord has ordained and they are going to happen whether we want them to or not. The only person; other than God, I can think of who was able to stop the rain was Elijah. (I Kings 17:1). Because of the Lord, he was able to stop the rain for 3 years.

We must learn to be flexible and instead of complaining about the weather, think of it as a blessing. God’s perfect cycle of life – the rain helps awaken dormant things in the spring season (tulips, forsythia, buds on trees); help prepare for growth. Then things grow in the summer season (roses, vegetables, etc.) and the fall season brings a storing up of nourishment of things that grew in the summer (colorful foliage). his nourishment will feed the dormant roots
