Another translation says “to call bad people to stop doing bad things.”
How do you look upon God’s people? Are you like the Pharisees in the scripture or are you like Jesus in character; showing mercy, and compassion to all of God’s people.
A similar scripture is found in the Gospel of Luke, the Parable of the Lost Sheep.
Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach. This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people—even eating with them!
So Jesus told them this story: “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!
Luke 15:1-7 (AMP)
Do you rejoice when people give their lives to Christ (Luke 15:1-7)? It is such a joyous occasion! Your Father rejoices. Do you? Someone is getting set free (Romans 6:22). Someone is getting healed (Psalm 41:4). Someone is getting delivered (Psalm 25:16). Someone has decided not to commit suicide, but to live (Psalm 9:13). Hallelujah!!! All Glory to God!
I challenge you as leaders, children of the God, His beloved disciples to show mercy, loving kindness and compassion to all persons great and small. Eagerly participate in this present day harvest no matter the trial or tribulation that may try to hinder it. Position yourselves to be not only sowers but reapers of this great harvest.
