eiti in the philippines
WHAT IS THE STATUS OF EITI IMPLEMENTATION IN THE PHILIPPINES?
Executive Order No. 79 (Institutionalizing Reforms in the Mining Industry) formally
declared the country’s commitment to participate in the EITI. Pursuant to this, the country,
led by the MSG submitted an application to the EITI International Board to be admitted as a
candidate country.
On May 22, 2013, the Philippines was admitted as a candidate country by the EITI
Board. In view of this, we are now in the early stages of EITI implementation with the objective of publishing our first EITI country report by November 2014.
WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR EITI IMPLEMENTATION IN THE
PHILIPPINES?
The Multi-stakeholders Group (MSG) is responsible for EITI implementation in the country.
The government, industry and CSO have equal representation in the MSG. Each sector has 5
