Rebranding Yourself

What ’ s your elevator pitch ? Don ’ t have one ? Keep reading .
The elevator pitch is a 20 to 30 second pitch to tell someone about yourself . This 20 second conversation tells the other person “ who you are ”, “ what you stand for ”, “ where you want to go in life ”, and “ what you can bring to the organization ”. This is the way to introduce yourself today .
If you are planning to switch careers , you will be required to represent yourself in a different light . What are you known for ? If you are the “ goto ” person or “ Excel Guru ”, then that ’ s your personal brand and asset . Basically , you are aligning the image people have of you to where you want to go . If you don ’ t want to be known for that , then change .
Does your current brand speak to your target market ? Social media can make or break your brand . Do you have words or photos you would not want a potential employer to see ? If so , remove them or make your social media pages private . Remember , your words are your brand .
