T
he Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball team had a season to remember, winning a
program-record 31 games before falling in the NJCAA Division I National Championship game in
Hutchinson, Kansas.
It was a run that the Titans weren’t sure they would be able to make after losing in the Region VIII
Tournament championship in Ocala, but they
received one of the four at-large bids into the national
NJCAA Division I
tournament for the third straight season, also a school
National Championship record.
Tournament
The Titans made the most of the bid, defeating
Monroe College, Motlow State and South Plains to
head to the national championship game for the first
time in school history.
They would lose to the hometown Hutchinson Community College in the championship game,
claiming the runner-up trophy; the best showing in college history.
The players and coaches were recognized during a trophy presentation ceremony the following
week that included EFSC Board of Trustee members, President Dr. Jim Richey and other college
administrators. For information on how to support EFSC Athletic Booster Club go to http://www.
