Foundation Newsletter CAMPUS NEWS Student Housing at EFSC Melbourne A ugust 4th was move in day for students who will study and live on-campus at Eastern Florida State College new Residence Hall on the Melbourne Campus. The brand-new, fully air conditioned 96-bed facility is divided into furnished suites with four individual bedrooms, two shared bathrooms, a shared full kitchen and a common living room. Safety protocols are in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including a requirement for masks in the facility’s elevators, hallways and common areas. Students also have been advised to practice social distancing in their suites, with masks recommended but not required in their own rooms. Eastern Florida State College has been selected to host the 2020 Cancun NCAA Division 1 Basketball Challenge in November, moved due to COVID concerns. EFSC Foundation Announces Gift from Community Foundation for Brevard The Eastern Florida State College Foundation has received a $5,000 grant through the Community Foundation for Brevard. The funds will be used to support new dental equipment for student education and patient treatment for both the Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene programs. The grant was provided thanks to the generosity of two donors, the Barbara Wells Family Foundation ($2,500) and the John K. and Julia R. Roach Fund ($2,500). “This grant was made possible by these visionary individuals,” said Theresa Grimison, Community Foundation of Brevard President and CEO. “We are deeply honored to be the stewards of their philanthropy and grateful to work with the EFSC Foundation to bring their intentions to life.” Jennie Kriete, former Director of the EFSC Foundation, thanked the Community Foundation for its “continued support of the College and its students.” To learn more about the EFSC Foundation and to donate, visit easternflorida.edu/foundation.
