Page 2 Foundation Newsletter DONOR SPOTLIGHT Space Coast Health Foundation Pickett Responsive Grant Award – 15,000 $ he Space Coast Health Foundation provides Pickett Responsive Grants to enhance or improve T the health or wellness of Brevard County residents. The Responsive Grant process is named in Johnette Gindling, Executive Director, SCHF honor of their first board chair, Fran Pickett, who played a significant role in the creation of the foundation. The grant will benefit Eastern Florida State College Health Sciences Institute (HSI) Program Support. The funds will be utilized to maintain, upgrade, and purchase state-of-the- art equipment. With ever-changing advancement in the health care field, the need to maintain and update equipment is ongoing and expensive. This grant will provide the funding to keep our students on the cutting edge of health care. DONOR SPOTLIGHT Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Awards EFSC $ 20,000 for Public Safety Scholarships The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation awarded $20,000 to the Eastern Florida State College Foundation for scholarships to help students study for careers as first responders. The money supported 10 students enrolled full time in the law enforcement, firefighting, paramedic and EMS/EMT programs at the college’s Public Safety Institute. “We’re very grateful to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for their generous donation,” said Jennie Kriete, Director of the EFSC Foundation. “First responders risk their lives to protect ours. It’s a special calling that requires dedication and courage, and the scholarships will play an important role in helping students achieve their goals and protect our community.” EFSC boosts the local and regional economies nearly $1.1 billion a year according to a statewide impact study. EFSC Foundation Board of Directors were responsible for soliciting over $75,000 to support the Foundation so far this year.
