EFSC Quality Enhancement Plan( QEP):

A Proven Success

The SACSCOC reaccreditation process the College completed in 2024 served as the catalyst for the creation and implementation of a Quality Enhancement Plan( QEP).
Named“ Rocket to Success: Taking Online Learning to New Heights,” the QEP was designed to improve online learning with an emphasis on faculty professional development, quality online instruction, and enhanced student support services.
In its second year, Rocket to Success has been assimilated into the College’ s day-to-day service provision with many noteworthy achievements!
Goal 1: Strengthening Information Literacy Resources for Online Learning Results: During the main terms of 2024-2025, instructors for 12 ENC 1101: Composition 1 online sections made use of the QEP Information Literacy resources, including the QEP pre-and post-tests, and worked with an embedded librarian. Updates were made to the resources and tests prior to their distribution for the 2024 – 2025 academic year based on review of student results from year one of the implementation. Changes included clarification of points within the resource documents and quiz questions; edits to correct grammatical / mechanical errors; restructuring of quiz questions( e. g., changing multiple-selection questions to single-choice); and suggestions for placement within the course.
Goal 2: Enhance Course Design and Delivery for Online Learning Results: The Online Course Design and Delivery Plus( OCDD +) course was fully implemented and is now available for all faculty, regardless of discipline. Currently, 20 faculty members have completed the optional training with faculty coming from a variety of disciplines, including Communications, Humanities, Math, Engineering, Science, and Business.
Promote Student Success by Designation of Online Courses as Quality or High-Quality:
This initiative focused on full institutionalization for the 2024-25 academic year. This included two strategies. The first was to implement an internal course quality program to evaluate online courses for quality / high-quality designation and the second was to increase the number of quality / high-quality courses each subsequent year. This initiative now lives in the Office of Instruction and is overseen by the Dean of Academic Innovation and Learning Excellence. The Academic Success Centers were also shifted to this Dean’ s area of responsibility, so this office is now directly involved with two of the QEP goals.
