Associate Professor Dr . Wendy McLallen was honored with the 2023 Distinguished Educator Award .
• McLallen , who teaches English on the Cocoa Campus , was cited for her work inside and outside the classroom in areas such as course planning and professional development
• She was described by colleagues as a “ crucial faculty member ” who always goes “ above and beyond and personifies , in theory and practice , the values of a distinguished educator .”
• Said Dr . Randy Fletcher , Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs and Chief Learning Officer :
• “ Dr . McLallen ’ s dedication and skill as an educator are on display every day , without fail . Her passion for students sets an admirable example for everyone to follow ,” he said .
• Nominations for the Distinguished Educator award are made by faculty , staff and currently enrolled students
• The honor includes a $ 1,500 award provided by the EFSC Foundation
FACULTY MENTORING AWARD
Business Professor Dr . Frank Christopian was honored by his peers with EFSC ’ s Faculty Mentoring Award .
• Christopian , who teaches Business in the Bachelors Degree program on the Melbourne Campus , was cited for his contributions to the college in many areas
• He was praised for “ being a consistent resource and focal point for information to all new faculty and providing knowledge and technical support for newcomers to EFSC .”
• The annual award honors someone who helps ease the transition into the college and
