SECURING EFSC ’ S INFORMATION SYSTEMS
The Information Technology Department undertook a number of important projects to secure the college ’ s digital infrastructure and protect the information of students , employees and EFSC operations .
Targeting Cyber Threats
• Implemented a Managed Detection & Response service to provide 24 / 7 monitoring of EFSC ’ s information systems and network for cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities
• Implemented a Privileged Access Management system to protect sensitive account credentials in the IT area
• Hired EFSC ’ s first dedicated , full-time Information Security Specialist to focus on protection and security of EFSC information systems and data
• Implemented social security number masking in EFSC ’ s administrative system to mask social security number information based on position and “ need to know ”
• Began implementation of automated Patch Management System to control and enhance security of all EFSC servers and desktop / laptop computers
Campus Network Upgrades
• Upgraded Cocoa campus network infrastructure , including high-speed WiFi throughout the campus
• Upgraded Melbourne campus network infrastructure
• Upgraded EFSC data center systems , including new systems to support EFSC various application and file servers
• Upgraded EFSC telephone system hardware and software to support increased telephone and related communications
